He’s a poet, a novelist, a singer, and a breathtaking showman. Anthony Joseph is considered to be “one of the 50 most prominent authors of dark literature of this century.” An artist who is always where you expect him the least. Joseph breaks all barriers by creating innovative musical arrangements and by collaborating with the most atypical characters of the music industry: musicians like Archie Shepp, or Keziah Jones are often credited on his albums. And this already says a lot.
Anthony Joseph’s performance project is a surreal energy between swinging horns and an afrobeat rhythm section à la Fela Kuti, creating a brutal mix of jazz, soul, funk and Caribbean beats.
No need to be a slam specialist to give justice to the rhythmic power of language: Anthony Joseph demonstrates it beautifully, delivering his poetry with power and fervor, live and on his albums. Groove, meaning, and soul will be on the menu at the Music Hall.
