2014 will mark one of BIPOD’s most important moments by celebrating its 10th anniversary.

BIPOD continues to enhance its already established reputation as one of the most important dance festivals in Lebanon and the region.

For its 10th anniversary, the festival offers a rich international program of contemporary dance performances, master classes, exhibitions and talks by renowned dance artists from around the world. BIPOD has created an incredible program and will celebrate dance continuously throughout the event: 10 companies for 10 years of BIPOD in addition to unique master classes, talks with the artists, the launching of BIPOD’s 10th anniversary book, a retrospective exhibition as well as great parties around the festival.

This year’s line-up includes internationally acclaimed companies from Norway, Belgium, Lebanon, UK, Germany, Morocco, Australia, France and Switzerland.

MASTER CLASS with Cie Russel Maliphant

Russell Maliphant Company master class led by Adam Kirkham and Carys Staton. Maliphant’s work is characterised by a unique approach to flow and energy and a focus on the relationship between movement, light and music. Improvisational tasks will be used to explore and highlight choreographic dynamics and diversity, encouraging and deepening awareness of structure through solo and duet movement material. The diverse background of the company means that the workshop incorporates an extensive range of disciplines from classical ballet, contact improvisation and yoga to capoeira, tai chi and the martial arts.

Participants explore and confront Vandekeybus’ energetic vocabulary through floor work, partner- and contact work, and movement as a ‘theatrical act’ rather than as a ‘technique’. This workshop will also touch some elements of repertory of the company.

Level : Good physical shape and some physical training are requested. A dance background is not specifically required. Maximum 20 to 25 people.
Age : no age limit
Clothes : sneakers and comfortable clothes
