Amal Andraos, another star from Lebanon shining in the occidental world and bringing the good news to our country.
Another Amal, another “hope”, after Amal Alameddine, the famous international lawyer who got more famous since she got engaged to the dazzling Hollywood star George Clooney.
Amale Andraos, a New York architect who was born and raised in Beirut got her degree in architecture from the AUB, American University of Beirut, and has practiced in Montreal, Paris and Rotterdam, has been selected as the 13th dean of the Graduate School of Architecture, Preservation and Planning, the university announced Tuesday.
Ms. Andraos, 41, who has been teaching at the school since 2011, is the first woman to hold the post.
She has also taught at Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania and the American University in Beirut and operates the design firm WorkAC on the Lower East Side with her husband, Dan Wood. The couple met while working for Rem Koolhaas in Rotterdam and eventually opened his New York office before starting their own business in 2002.
Andraos also participates in several initiatives that support contemporary architecture in the Middle East, including the steering committee of the Columbia Global Centers, Middle East, and the advisory board of the Arab Center for Architecture.
