For the first time in a decade, the adult life of Jesus played on movie screens. Exactly 10 years after the release of the movie of Mel Gibson, “Passion of the Christ”, Hollywood released a new movie edited from the New Testament sections of the 2013 History Channel miniseries The Bible, “Son of God “looks to evoke the life and times of Jesus of Nazareth. The movie is focused on the familiar story from the Bible.
To the shock of few people, Son of God was a hit, scoring more than $26 million on opening weekend in USA. Christians are motivated to make it a hit because they know their faith is rarely represented on the big screen. Not all faith based films do well. Two years after The Passion of The Christ, The Nativity Story underperformed and was considered by some to be a disappointment.
Looking forward to watch the movie in Lebanon and in the whole middle east. Currently, rights to “Son of God” have been sold off to more than 60 territories, including the Middle East and including a sale to leading distributor Gulf Film, according to Hollywood Reporter.
Directed by Christopher Spencer (I Shouldn’t Be Alive), Son of God stars Diogo Morgado (Revenge), Amber Rose Revah (From Paris with Love), Sebastian Knapp (28 Days Later), and Roma Downey (Touched by an Angel) .
